Senator Tony Strickland’s Statement on Tax Day

(Sacramento, CA) – “Today’s tax day is a grave reminder to all Californians that we are taxed to the max. Democrats are continually using hardworking California families as an ATM machine, which is doing nothing to help boost California’s economy.”

“If California’s economy is ever going to bounce back, we need to stop raising taxes. There’s a reason why we have an ongoing budget problem and it’s because people are fleeing the state because they’re being over-taxed.”

“I’m hopeful we can reform California so that hardworking families are no longer forced to make the choice between a gallon of milk and a gallon of gas. I will do everything I can to oppose more taxes and will help to ensure that taxpayer dollars are spent as wisely and efficiently as possible.”

Healthcare Press Conference - Joined by Senate colleagues, I address the media about the impact of federal healthcare legislation on California and some of the special burdens facing our state under both state and federal healthcare plans.  I hope you will join me in fighting to make sure California voters have the final veto power when it comes to healthcare mandates passed by the state or federal government.  In more ways than one, California cannot afford the newly passed government-controlled healthcare bill.
